The global community has set the goal to reach overall climate neutrality until 2050.
As a supplier of production equipment, we want to make our contribution to this within all existing sustainability dimensions and at the same time be a reliable partner within the supply chains in the various sectors. Broetje-Automation is aware of its social responsibility and the importance to ensure resilience for todays and future business. Creating the Factory of the Future will be shaped by sustainable automation.
Broetje-Automation therefore has integrated sustainability as a core target in the company vision and strategy with a perspective towards 2050 and short-term goals towards 2028 and 2035.
Within the strategy process for Sustainability a materiality analysis has identified six major topics (Materialities) which form the priorities in sustainability action at Broetje-Automation.
At the same time the TOP priority SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals, United Nations) have been identified.
In addition, the company is committed to providing excellent support to its customers, as evidenced by the provision of ergonomic support for its diverse products. Since we care about our environment and its well-being, we are involved in several social projects. Among them MINT and Summitree, with which Broetje-Automation is involved locally to help shape, promote and make a positive impact in the region.
Ensuring a sustainable supply chain is crucial for our company to take even more social and environmental responsibility. To achieve this, we follow regulations and standards such as EN9100, prepare for specific legislation such as the LkSG, and include sustainable requirements in supplier approvals such as ISO 14001 and 45001. Measuring our carbon footprint and key performance indicators helps us identify areas for improvement and track progress toward our sustainability goals. Prioritizing sustainability in the supply chain is essential for Broetje-Automation to ensure long-term success and contribute to a more sustainable factory of the future.
Our company is committed to enabling clean production for our customers by using new materials, new processes, and the highest quality standards. We utilize advanced process technologies like lubrication, extraction, and clean drilling to ensure that our production processes are eco-friendly. Additionally, we are conscious of the lifecycle costs of our products, ensuring that our production processes contribute positively to the environment. Through these efforts, we strive to provide sustainable solutions that benefit both our customers and the planet.
We are committed to minimizing our environmental impact by implementing various sustainable practices. In order to reduce our carbon footprint, we place great emphasis on minimizing logistical effort and transport distances, as well as on waste prevention. Our decentralized assembly and extended local supply chains further reduce transportation needs, while waste management and logistics ensure that waste is disposed of properly. We also place a strong emphasis on travel management and commuting by promoting sustainable commuting options and minimizing unnecessary travel. By implementing these sustainable practices, we can operate in an environmentally conscious manner, contributing to a cleaner and healthier planet.
At our company, we are committed to sustainability and continuously strive to reduce our environmental impact. In terms of our products, we focus on making them more energy-efficient without compromising precision and availability. We also implement general measures to reduce our energy consumption. Additionally, we prioritize the increase of biodiversity sites within our business areas to promote ecological diversity and support local ecosystems. These efforts reflect our commitment to operating in an environmentally responsible manner and contributing to a cleaner, healthier planet.
Broetje-Automation has been focusing internally on digitization efforts to improve efficiency and productivity. This includes a strategic project within IT to digitize business processes such as implementing a paperless office. Additionally, the company has been looking at various digital integration options to enhance its product offerings.
Overall, we recognize the importance of digitization in today’s business landscape and is committed to leveraging these technologies to stay ahead of the curve.
The company attaches great importance to ensuring that employees’ rights are respected; this is supported by a works council and company agreements. Furthermore, there is a code of conduct that ensures that all employees act ethically and responsibly.
Health is another important focus. To support our employees in the long term, we provide access to a company doctor and are certified to ISO45001. Other measures, such as ergonomic support for everyday work, have been introduced to ensure the well-being of our employees.
Broetje-Automation is a participant of the UN Global Compact – A worldwide initiative founded to implement sustainable and socially responsible business practices. It established ten principles in the areas of human rights, fair labor practices, environmental protection, and corruption prevention, and supports the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

As a globally active industrial company, we bear responsibility for our actions in the world. Broetje-Automation has therefore made sustainability a core component of its corporate strategy. For the 2023 financial year, a sustainability report based on the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive has now been published for the first time.
Broetje-Automation, the City of Emden’s Economic Development Agency and Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences are embarking on a cooperative path from 22.04.2024 to develop and implement innovative solutions to future challenges in the field of sustainability. This will be driven by the “Sustainable Product Development in Mechanical Engineering” course, which has been offered at Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences since last year.
