Proven Methodologies for Industrial Studies on Manufacturing and Assembly

Production studies are the key for successful realization. No matter if it is a production relocation or an optimization of capacity or work flow, our experienced know-how will provide you the best solution for your challenge.
We analyze business cases for automation in your field of production utilizing decades of experience with commercial engineering in the aerospace industry.

Our proven methodology

Define common target and way of realization for the study planning phase

  • Visit customer for team, stakeholder and expert consultation
  • Analyze existing production line, jig/equipment and automation
  • Analyze processes and technology to be considered for future assembly line
  • Define environmental conditions and boundary restrictions
  • Evaluate digital data of the aircraft to be considered for the study
  • Define approach for logistic related aspects
  • Define common target and way of realization for the study planning phase

Way of realization for the study planning phase

Initial ideas based on Kick-Off for further iteration discussion

  • Technology assessment focused on higher manufacturing productivity
  • Elementary concept for overall manufacturing flow and efficient production logistics
  • Preliminary charts for the station related work contents
  • Draft concepts for appropriate jig/equipment, tooling and automation
  • Preliminary production capacity calculation for the targeted rate/year
  • Draft time schedule for the overall step by step production ramp up
  • Conceptual layout (2D) of the assembly line shop floor

First concepts and preliminary calculations to define final work

Common Target Definition for final study phase

  • Visit customer for team, stakeholder and expert consultation
  • Present results of the first conceptual approach (Task 2)
  • Common discussion for detailing of work content, equipment and layout
  • Common target definition for final study phase

Approach for final study work defined

Technical specification of production line for public bidding

  1. Production capacity
  2. Process flow design
  3. Design of production  stations
  4. Production layout
  5. Automatic machining equipment selection
  6. Quality control plan
  7. Production logistic and material flow plan
  8. Information management system design concept
  9. Component requirement
  10. Tooling design modeling
  11. 3D model of facility & equipment
  12. Ergonomic design and comfortable operation environment
  13. Cycle time calculation, simulation and/or animation
  14. Construction cost budget estimation

First concepts and preliminary calculations to define final work

Presentation of planning study and documentation of results

  • Presentation off all conceptual work results
  • Discussion (questions and answers)
  • Handover of result documentation (e.g. PDF-Documents, Files and Movies)

Final study result documentation:

  • Layout 2D/3D
  •  Station description
  • Capacity Calculation
  • Process & Capacity chart
  • Material & Logistic Flow
  • Animation/Simulation
  • Cost estimation

Selection based on customer requirements

The first step of a production change and new investment is a study. The study results will feed a specification. The customer will send out the specification with a Request for Quotation (RFQs) to potential suppliers. After receiving the supplier feedback, we will support the customer to analyze the quotations. Open issues and alternative technical solutions in the quotations will be clarified with the suppliers. With the help of an evaluation matrix the quotations will be scored by technical means together with our customer.
