CAMX 2026: Experience the Flexibility of Automated Composite Manufacturing

Broetje-Automation is heading to CAMX 2026 in Atlanta, where the company will showcase its latest solutions for automated composite manufacturing. A particular focus is the STAXX Family of Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) systems – including the highly flexible STAXX ONE Portable. High-rate manufacturing is becoming increasingly important for the composites industry. As demand for advanced lightweight structures continues to grow, manufacturers need automation solutions that combine productivity and precision with greater flexibility.

At CAMX 2026 in Atlanta, Broetje-Automation will present its approach to this challenge at Booth AA26 with the STAXX Family of Automated Fiber Placement Systems being the center of attention.

STAXX One Portable: Automation Where You Need it

A key member of the STAXX Family is the STAXX One Portable, a compact, self-contained AFP cell designed to bring automated fiber placement directly to where it is needed. Unlike conventional AFP installations, which can require significant infrastructure and dedicated production space, STAXX One Portable is designed for plug-and-play deployment and mobility. The robotic cell can be integrated into existing shop-floor environments and relocated when production requirements change. This makes the system particularly well suited for applications such as prototyping, low-volume production, development programs, test panels, repair applications, and situations requiring rapid deployment.

From Concept to hands-on Experience

For customers interested in exploring the technology beyond the trade show, Broetje-Automation offers an opportunity to rent and test a STAXX ONE Portable at its U.S. location in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

The capability provides manufacturers, engineers, and development teams with a practical way to evaluate automated fiber placement in their own application environment – without the commitment of investing in a permanent AFP installation. Whether the goal is to validate a new process, manufacture prototype components, evaluate different materials, or explore the potential of AFP automation, the STAXX ONE Portable can provide a flexible platform for hands-on testing and development.

Versatility for Advanced Composite Applications

Despite its compact and portable design, STAXX One Portable is built for demanding composite applications. Its 3D-capable robotic environment can be configured with an integrated rotary table or tailstock, enabling the production of complex components and test structures.

Interchangeable end-effectors allow the system to adapt to different tow widths and material types to align with production requirements. Depending on the application, the cell can be equipped with infrared heating or flash-Lamp technology, supporting the processing of a broad range of composite materials, including prepreg, dry fiber, and thermoplastics.

By combining mobility, process flexibility, and automated fiber placement, STAXX One Portable offers a new way to approach composite manufacturing – particularly where traditional, large-scale AFP systems are not the right fit. This configuration makes the STAXX One Portable one of the most versatile systems on the market.
