Conveyor System

FastPlant is a modular, cost-efficient transport system for assembly lines that enables higher production rates within moving or pulsing line concepts. It is widely used in the aerospace sector for the assembly of aircraft, sections or engines. The system is designed to allow clean floor production concepts. FastPlant possess a lifting unit to guarantee ergonomic working levels for the workers. Specific product adapters can be attached. The specially developed software and monitoring system control the production flow and report actual product data as well as fault history. The modular system is very flexible and can easily be extended or relocated. The standardized modules can integrate media, energy and data connections (if required by the process).

SHILA Demonstrator

Smart Factory instead of Manual Shimming: SHILA Lays the Foundation for Automated Joining Processes in the Aerospace Industry

Rastede, June 2026 – Broetje-Automation, together with its consortium partners 3D.aero GmbH, Boeing, KEBA Industrial Automation, IPMT – Institute for Production Management and ‑Technology and WZL Aachen GmbH, has successfully completed the research project SHILA – “Shim-free assembly of thin-walled aircraft structures” funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The aim of the project was to develop a fully digitally supported and highly automated process chain that enables precise assembly of large-format, thin-walled CFRP structural components without the previous use of shims.
